Coach Phillips taking over play calling

Coach Wade Phillips will now be taking over the defensive play calling for the Cowboys. The announcement came after weeks of struggling on the defensive side of the ball. Owner Jerry Jones said that this is really no different from what has been going on and is not worried about it. Jones said that Phillips has been behind a major of the play calling so far and that this matter is being way overrated! It will be interesting to see how the players react to this announcement and also if there will be any tension between Coach Phillips and defensive coordinator Brian Stewart.

has came out and said against all scrutiny saying that Wade Phillips job is not in jeopardy. Many people thought with the Cowboys latest stumble in the standings that the Phillips could possible be out the door. Phillips himself has came out and said that he in no way is worried about his job and that the Cowboys are only looking toward the Tampa Bay Bucs!

Head Coach Wade Phillips made it clear this week that the Cowboys would become more agressive and play more man to man coverage. The Cowboys have struggled the past couple weeks on defense and because of that he wants the defense to jump out quickly and be more physical. Look for the Cowboys to pressure Bengals Quarterback Carson Palmer as he recovers from a injury.

Cowboys not worried on Barber’s injury

The Dallas Morning News has reported that the Cowboys are not concerned about Barber’s injury during week 1 game against the Cleveland Browns. Barber has taken the past couple days off of practice but returned to some position drills wednesday. Head coach Wade Phillips showed little concern over his starting running backs injury but ensured that rookie Felix Jones will be ready to start if needed to. With Jones coming in after Barber’s injury in week 1 and playing like a seasoned veteran the Cowboys look to be in good shape if needed to turn to Jones if Barber can not go on Monday!
